Client Overview:

Education Cents was created by CollegeInvest, a not-for-profit division of the Colorado Department of Higher Education. The goal of the site is to help you understand financial matters and your financial situation so that you have the tools you need to help finance your and your family’s higher education.

Objective:

DATA, Inc. created Education Cents in partnership with CollegeInvest to provide a new, online curriculum focused on the process of financing a college education, within an overall framework of general financial literacy. The primary goal of the program is to improve financial literacy for students and their families so they can better understand the positive impact that higher education can have on their financial future. Upon completing the curriculum students will have the knowledge and tools to create a financial plan to meet their future educational goals.

Our Solution:

DATA, Inc. implemented the web site using Kentico’s portal engine with page templates, document types, and web parts. Our solution contains class libraries for functionality that requires business logic. These class libraries use the Kentico API for interacting with the CMS data. The features implemented in the site include: Content Management, Versioning, Workflow, Search, Reporting, Blogs, Event Calendar, Newsletter, Message Boards, Groups, Membership, Roles, API, Content Staging, Biz Forms, Content Publishing, Custom Tables, Tags, Content Rating, Custom Scheduled Tasks, Email Templates, Custom Document Types, Custom Form Controls, Inline Controls, Page Layout, Page Templates, Custom Profile through system table and alternative forms, and Custom Web Parts..
 

Citizen Pictures

Citizen Pictures

Client Overview:

Denver based Citizen Pictures has been an internationally recognized broadcast and commercial production company for more than 25 years. Citizen Pictures offers writing, producing, directing, live-action shooting, motion graphics and 3-D animation to networks, corporations and agencies.

Objective:

Develop a web site that will contain all of Citizen Pictures' past and current work. Since the client is a video production company, video must be an integral part of the user experience. The web site needs to be highly interactive and allow Citizen Pictures to manage their own content.

Key features to include:

  • The client has requested a user interface built entirely in Flash
  • Although the user interface will be Flash, there will be a need for custom URLs
  • There will be a large amount of Video content

Our Solution:

DATA, Inc. implemented the web site using Kentico’s portal engine with page templates, document types, and web parts.

Key notes of development:

  • The user interface was developed entirely in Flash and is powered by a Kentico CMS 
  • Using Custom URLs, the Kentico API and Fluorine Remoting Services, we are able to pass the appropriate content to the Flash application

Client Overview:

Bel Brands USA is actually a French company; their global headquarters are in Paris, France. Bel Brands USA is the nation's leading manufacturer of refrigerated cheese spreads.

Objective:

To add recipe web site functionality to Laughing Cow's current web site. The new functionality must mimic most of the existing functionality of the major recipe web sites (e.g. allrecipes.com).

Key features to include:

  • Laughing Cow must have the ability to add new recipes and edit existing ones
  • Users will have the ability to rate recipes
  • Recipes will be tagged and can be filtered by tagging
  • Recipes can be searched by Laughing Cow product ingredients

Our Solution:

DATA, Inc. created a recipe web site for Laughing Cow using Kentico’s portal engine with page templates, document types, and web parts. 

Key notes of development:

  • Recipes could be added/edited through Kentico's CmsDesk
  • Recipes were tagged via Kentico's tagging functionality
  • Recipes were rated via Kentico's rating functionality
  • DATA built an import for all of Laughing Cow's existing recipes

Client Overview:

CEMM (Center of Excellence for Medical Multimedia) is an initiative from the Office of the Air Force Surgeon General focused on medical related patient education.

Objective:

To create an updated look, modernize the media and the way it is deployed, re-organize the content for usability as well as alignment with the fixed media products and build it into a system that can be updated by the client. 

 Key features to include:
  • Extensive video content
  • Baby book glossary
  • Strong need for content organization
  • 3D animated content

Our Solution:

DATA, Inc. implemented the web site using Kentico’s portal engine with page templates, document types, and web parts.

Key notes of development:

  • Utilized the media library to organize and manage various forms of media including: video, audio, and illustrations
  • Created 3d animation of a baby’s development from conception to birth as well as a complete virtual garden with sixty detailed points of interest used as sets for the program hosts
  • The Baby Book Glossary was developed with custom document types
  • Utilized custom document types to integrate media with the other content

Flint Hills Technical College

Flint Hills Technical College

Client Overview:

Flint Hills Technical College is a two-year HLC accredited public institution of higher education nestled in the rolling hills of east-central Kansas.

Objective:

To redesign the Flint Hills Technical College web site with the goal of attracting prospective students and representing each department with its own online presence. The redesigned web site will also provide Flint Hills Technical College with the ability to easily manage their own content.

Key features to include:

  • Program/Major Information (Degrees and Certificates, Coursework, Instructors, etc.)
  • Events Calendar
  • Directory
  • Online Application for Admission

Our Solution:

DATA, Inc. implemented the web site using Kentico’s portal engine with page templates, document types, and web parts.

Key notes of development:

  • The redesigned web site includes top and left-column navigation, both powered by Kentico
  • To eliminate any duplicate content, Custom Document Types were created for Programs, Degrees/Certificates, Courses and Instructors
  • The web site also includes full-text search, SEO support and smart URLs
  • We utilized Kentico's Bizform functionality to create an Online Application for Admission. This allows Flint Hills Technical College to easily manage new applicants



 

Find the Bacon

Find the Bacon

Client Overview:

Find The Bacon did not have a traditional client but was an internal project built with Kentico and the Freebase API. The game is based on the popular parlor game, Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon.

Objective:

We had found a wealth of free information with the Freebase API and wanted to get a site up quickly and easily that would map the connections between celebrities by the films they have acted in. It is meant to be a playground for us to work with SEO, advertising, and new development concepts.

Our Solution:

After creating a basic Flash interface that interacted with the API we passed the project off to have it re-conceptualized and designed. We allowed our prototype to inform the design. Because of the limited time we had to develop the site, Kentico was our first choice. Aside from the Flash development, the site was not created by traditional developers. The site was installed and built by designers and project managers.
